Passions

There is something that gets you. Something that whenever you think/see/play it you get so incredibly excited you can hardly stand it. That something may seem ordinary to somebody else. But too you, it’s something you can’t put into words.

So what’s your passion? Do you know yet? Many people go through life and never truly know what they are passionate about. Whether it’s playing the guitar, reading the Harry Potter series (yes I have one of those HP obsessions!), writing a script, taking pictures, wandering the ocean, whatever it may be; you are passionate about something. Some may be common like politics, education, traveling or even cats. Others may be kind of out there like underwater basket weaving. Being passionate is having a strong feeling or belief towards anything. ANYTHING. A few of my passions include traveling, my diet, the outdoors and

Orca whales. Yes I said Orca whales. Why? I have no idea. But Oh. My. Gosh. I have seen every documentary, read many books, memorized the Free Willy movies (YES they are still my FAVORITE movies!). What it is, it’s indescribable. All of my life though, I have never actually seen one (well Sea World when I was 3 but that hardly counts as anything). Why is a small town girl from Wisconsin, who hardly went to the great lakes when she was younger, so passionate about one of the most beautiful, yet feared animals in the world?
That is what passion is all about. You can’t describe it, but you will argue until you’re blue in the face about it if anybody talks it down. It’s normal. So I hope anyways, otherwise I’m just a crazy whale person!
I’m just starting to realize this now. No, I had no idea what I was totally passionate about until I started being aware of my feelings. Being in tune with my body and how it reacts. It’s not easy but it’s totally worth it.

That’s how I got into photography. I’m not this person who is going to say they have been passionate about photography all of my life because I would be lying to you. Yes I loved taking photos but did I ever imagine owning a nice camera? No. Did I ever picture myself as a photographer? Never. It wasn’t until I started taking photos at softball games did I realize how

much fun it could really be. Then I started thinking about those passion things we just talked about and thought of traveling, oceans and orca whales and that’s when I realized; I wanted to show people how beautiful this world and it’s creatures really are. Because nobody believes you when you simply tell him or her. If you can show them, you are going to get much farther with your argument. (I am also, terrible at telling stories (I tend to get way too excited without actually saying words that make sense) and showing pictures is much more simple.)) So yes, I’m following my dream to hopefully work with orca whales some day and show you all that they are just as amazing as I can describe them as. It may be take me all my life to get to that point. But it can happen. I’m also finding new passions along the way. It’s a never ending cycle. You may lose passion for a certain thing but then again become passionate about something else. So I challenge you. Don’t go with the flow. Don’t be afraid of what your passions are. You’re passionate about them for a reason. Go find it. I dare you. Because you never know, it may lead you to a life you never even imagined. :)
